Shannon Slee is a visual artist living and working on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country in Melbourne’s North.
Her practice engages with technologies of the handmade to consider intimate moments of connection within the flexible aesthetic of textiles. Shannon leans on textile habits within her work such as reusing, sewing, spinning and weaving. She is interested in the way craft modalities distort time, hover on corporeal knowledge, consider tactility and seek a transference.
Informed by feminist theories of multiplicity, voice, and imagined futures, her work explores how craft technologies might create connections between the known and unknown, tracing lineages that persist across temporal thresholds.
