DREAM WEAVINGS: Cut from the Same Cloth are three pairs of weavings that rely on a simple, rug-style plain weave. My own hand-spun wool forms the warp, connected with fabric remnants and discarded clothing. These weavings are interpretations of dreams and unconscious states, in which I replicate shapes recalled from my own sleep. This work seeks to unlock hidden meanings concealed from the waking mind, within dreams, through the ancient, coded technology of weaving.
The paired forms hope for a dialogue between opposing states: waking and sleeping, warp and weft, new and discarded, the known and the unknown. Within these tensions, geometry and time are stretched and abstracted.
